Penology II is also a core subject of the LL.M in Criminal Justice Administration degree programme. The credit weightage of this subject is 3. It is a second year subject and a compulsory subject. The concept of corrections is used in criminology to include all the post-judicial processes concerning criminals, the prisons, jails, probations, parole, rehabilitation, community-based corrections and a host of other forms of intervention fall into the domain of corrections. The course aims to provide Historical evolution of corrections, Corrections policies in Sri Lanka and selected other countries, Corrections systems, procedures and programs found in criminal justice systems, National and international laws and regulations pertaining to corrections, Internationally accepted declarations which regulate corrections procedures and treatment of prisoners, Different perspectives of corrections, Rehabilitation of prisoners for the understanding of Sri Lankan legal system.
