Welcome to the Politics and Social Movements -DSU4356/ SSU2156 module. People living in the modern world cannot escape politics. In such a context, sociology looks at politics as one of the key social institutions. Power relations and authority is very important in our everyday life. The subjects of political sociology discuss the political involvement of people. This module focuses on two important aspects of our everyday lives: politics and social movements. There will be a basic introduction to both subjects and the following lessons elaborate the shape of the two concepts further. The discussion of politics and social movements has been focussed to contemporary global phenomena.
